Oh sweet baby Maislee Kay. My first and only niece! She was the cutest baby, those big cheeks and her perfect little face, I just love her!
Funny story….as I hopped in my car with my oldest daughter to go visit my brother, SIL and new babe in the hospital and take some Fresh 48 pics, I had just taken a pregnancy test and ran out the door. I got the “Pregnant” positive test minutes later as I was en route to the hospital. Our baby #7, who would go on to be our Emersyn Love, was on the way. I was so excited and called my husband on the way to tell him the news that we were going to be parents again, which was probably the only time that I had a boring announcement to my hubby, haha. I always try and be creative but look people once you’re on kid #7 you just call and say, “How do you feel about being a dad again??” 🤣 I had about a 45 minute drive to get all my excitement out before playing it cool once getting to the hospital. I debated telling my brother and Kate but didn’t want to steal their thunder so I didn’t say a word.
As I was taking photos of my niece and ooooing and awwing over her, Kate looked at me and said, “Ready for baby #7 Ker?!” I was dying – if only she knew!!
Maislee is such a beautiful, unique name but she also was named after my mom and Kate’s mom. Both Grandma’s. My mom’s middle name is Lee and Kate’s mom’s middle name is Kay. Such a beautiful way to honor them both!
Kate’s parents arrived at the hospital a little after I got there, so that I could capture big brother Gage’s reaction to meeting his new little sis. It was so sweet and I just love looking back on these memories. It was special to have Gracelyn with me too and she loved holding her first girl cousin! Time is such a thief. My nephew and niece are 3 and 5 now and this feels like ages ago. I don’t do a lot of Fresh 48 sessions, I tend to do more births and newborn sessions but Fresh 48’s are just so special. If booking me as your birth photographer perhaps is not in your budget, a Fresh 48 is the next best thing! You can still get those brand spankin’ new freshies, and remember those first moments with your new little miracle. It’s the best!!
