The moment a new mom hears her baby’s first cry. The moment a new dad holds his baby for the very first time. I have photographed many different things, but there is nothing like the excitement of capturing the moment a new life comes into this world.

If you are on the hunt for a Metro Detroit Michigan Birth Photographer, I’m your girl! I LOVE babies and am so passionate about my birth work! Birth sessions are my very favorite to document and I would shoot them all day if I could! As a mom of eight, I truly treasured each of my pregnancies, the births of my babies and those first days and weeks with my new baby. It is such a sweet and special season in life that should be captured and remembered for years to come.

Why hire a birth photographer?

Simple. The day you bring your child into this world is one of the most beautiful days of your life, and it should be documented. Hiring a birth photographer allows dad to be focused on mom and baby, and be a part of the birth story. If he’s behind the lens taking photos, well, that’s just a shame. 🙂 Without a birth photographer, it’s easy to be left with just a couple photos of baby after delivery. Having 8 children myself, I’ve been on both sides of the birth process – which has given me insight on the key moments to capture for you.

What to expect?

Labor and delivery can be unpredictable. I will be on-call 24/7 for 2 weeks before and after your due date (until baby arrives). I try to arrive to the hospital (or your home) when you’re in active labor (around 5cm). I will document the hours leading up to delivery and up to two hours after delivery. I’ll capture your birth story tastefully and professionally and you will look back at these photos and cherish them for a lifetime.

What if you miss the birth?

I only take on a couple births each month to allow me the greatest chance of attending each birth. If I miss your birth due to my error (ie: due to illness, attending another birth, unexpected emergency), you will receive a full refund. If I miss your birth because it was too fast or you didn’t notify me in time, there is no refund and you will receive a Fresh 48 session instead.

What if I have a C-Section? Can I still have a birth photographer?

Absolutely! If you are having a planned Cesarean birth, you will want to ask your doctor beforehand if they will allow a photographer in the operating room with you along with any other support persons you have. Every doctor is different. If a photographer is not allowed, there are still plenty of beautiful moments to capture leading up to birth, and afterwards.

Will my images be shared on your website?

Yes, I do post images from the births on my website, blog and Facebook page. However, you will view your images before any images are shared and can let me know if there are any images you do not want shared.
